NOTHING IN THIS APP, ITS VOICE AGENT, ITS SCRIPTS, OR ANY OTHER FEATURE CONSTITUTES LEGAL REPRESENTATION, LEGAL COUNSEL, OR LEGAL ADVICE. THE INFORMATION AND SCRIPTS SPOKEN BY SOVEREIGN’S AI VOICE AGENT ARE FOR GENERAL INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR ADVICE FROM A LICENSED ATTORNEY.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Sovereign mobile application (“App,” “Sovereign,” or “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User” or “you”) and Sovereign (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after a modification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

Sovereign is a mobile application designed to help users assert constitutionally protected rights during law enforcement encounters. The App provides:

3. NOT LEGAL ADVICE — CRITICAL DISCLAIMER

This section is the most important section of these Terms. Please read it carefully.

Sovereign does not provide legal advice. The AI voice agent speaks from a library of pre-written, fixed scripts designed to invoke constitutionally recognized rights. These scripts are informational in nature. They are not tailored to the specific facts of your situation, and they are not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney who can evaluate your individual circumstances.

Nothing Sovereign says, displays, records, or communicates — including but not limited to the AI voice agent’s spoken statements, the app’s interface text, push notifications, interaction summaries, or any other output — constitutes legal advice.

3.2 No Attorney-Client Relationship

Using Sovereign does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Sovereign, its founders, employees, contractors, or any affiliated party. No information you share with Sovereign is protected by attorney-client privilege.

3.3 Scripts Are General — Not Situational

The AI voice agent operates from a fixed, pre-approved script tree. It does not have knowledge of your criminal history, immigration status, jurisdiction-specific law, the specific facts of the current encounter, or any other individual circumstances that a licensed attorney would need to evaluate to give you advice. The scripts are designed around well-established federal constitutional principles (primarily the Fourth and Fifth Amendments), but state and local law varies significantly and may affect the application of these rights in your specific situation.

3.4 Outcomes Are Not Guaranteed

Invoking your constitutional rights — whether through Sovereign or otherwise — does not guarantee any particular outcome. Officers may not comply. Courts may rule differently than expected. Evidence may be admitted or excluded based on facts specific to your case. Sovereign makes no representation that use of this App will prevent an arrest, search, detention, prosecution, or any other adverse outcome. If you are charged with a crime or otherwise face legal jeopardy, you must consult a licensed attorney immediately.

3.5 Emergency Situations

Sovereign is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. Do not rely on this App in a medical, safety, or other emergency situation.

4. AI Voice Agent Disclaimer

The Sovereign voice agent is an artificial intelligence system. It is not a human being and is not a licensed attorney. The voice agent:

5.1 Recording in Public

Every federal circuit court that has addressed the question has held that the First Amendment protects the recording of police officers performing their official duties in public places. State courts have generally reached the same conclusion. Separately, approximately a dozen states maintain all-party or two-party consent statutes governing audio recording; courts in those states have largely — though not uniformly — held that those statutes do not apply to the recording of public officials performing public duties, because such officials retain no reasonable expectation of privacy in that context.

It is not legal advice, and Sovereign makes no representation about how any law applies to your specific situation. You are solely responsible for understanding the recording laws in your jurisdiction before using this App.

5.2 Recording in Private

Recording laws that apply in public settings are distinct from laws governing recording in private settings. Recording a conversation in a private location — including inside a home, vehicle interior, or any non-public space — without the consent of all parties may violate federal or state wiretapping, eavesdropping, or privacy statutes, regardless of whether law enforcement is present. Violations of these statutes can carry serious civil and criminal penalties.

Sovereign is designed for use during law enforcement encounters in public places. Sovereign does not provide legal advice on whether recording is permissible in any specific private location. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the App’s recording feature complies with all applicable laws in any setting, public or private.

By activating a Sovereign session, you consent to the recording of your voice, likeness, and surroundings. You represent that you have the legal right to record in the location where you are using the App.

5.4 Storage of Recordings

Recordings are stored in your private cloud storage partition. Sovereign does not maintain a centralized media repository. You are solely responsible for the management, retention, and lawful use of your recordings.

6. Account Registration

You must create an account to use Sovereign. You agree to:

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. If you are under 18, you may only use Sovereign with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms.

7. Subscription Plans and Billing

7.1 Free Tier

The Free tier provides access to Sovereign’s core features at no cost, subject to a limit of three (3) sessions per calendar month. Free tier features include the AI voice agent, front-camera recording, real-time cloud backup, GPS tagging, and post-session summaries.

7.2 Pro Tier

The Pro tier provides unlimited monthly sessions for a subscription fee of $2.99–$4.99 per month (exact price displayed at checkout and subject to change with notice). Pro tier includes all Free tier features with no session limit.

7.3 Billing and Cancellation

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store in accordance with their respective billing policies. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s subscription management settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by applicable law.

7.4 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least thirty (30) days’ notice. Continued use of the Pro tier after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

8. Data Collection, Privacy, and the Opt-In Database

8.1 Privacy Policy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. Please review the Privacy Policy before using the App.

8.2 Opt-In Anonymous Data Contribution

Sovereign maintains an anonymized national stop database built from user-contributed encounter data. Contribution to this database is entirely opt-in. If you opt in, the following metadata from your sessions may be contributed anonymously: timestamp, geolocation, stop duration, rights invocations made, whether a search was requested, whether consent was given, outcome category, and voluntarily provided demographic data.

You may opt out of data contribution at any time through the Settings screen. Opting out does not retroactively remove previously contributed data, which has already been anonymized and aggregated.

8.3 Data You Own

Recordings are stored in your private cloud storage partition. You own your recordings. Sovereign does not sell, license, or share your recordings without your explicit consent.

8.4 Aggregated and Anonymized Data

Sovereign may use aggregated, anonymized data for research, product improvement, journalism partnerships, academic licensing, and policy organization access. This data cannot reasonably be used to identify any individual user.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOVEREIGN DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Sovereign does not warrant that the AI voice agent will select the correct script, respond correctly to any given officer statement, or produce any particular outcome during a law enforcement encounter.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SOVEREIGN, ITS FOUNDERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sovereign and its founders, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with:

The Sovereign App, including its AI voice agent, scripts, software, design, trademarks, and all content, is owned by Sovereign and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right, title, or interest in Sovereign’s intellectual property.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, conduct that we determine to be harmful to users or the integrity of the Service, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or deleting your account through the App. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any paid subscription fees.

Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Recordings stored in your private cloud partition remain accessible to you through the applicable cloud service provider.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms that proceeds to litigation shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS, YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION. Any claims must be brought in your individual capacity.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least fourteen (14) days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sovereign with respect to the App and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
